چکیده
Mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma (MTSCC) is a distinct entity in the World Health Organization classification of kidney tumors since 2004. Herein, we report a case of a patient with MTSCC of the kidney. A 48-year-man visited our hospital with a chief complaint of occult blood in his urine, confirmed by urine occult blood reaction. Computed tomography revealed a solid tumor in the right kidney. The tumor was 40×38 mm in length and was slightly enhanced (cT1aN0M0). Therefore, we performed radical nephrectomy. On analysis of the resected specimen, we found that the number of comparatively small malignant cells had increased markedly, forming branched tubular cuboidal cells. Further more, positive results were obtained on staining the stroma with both PAS and alcian blue stains characteristic of papillary renal cell carcinoma ; however, extracellular mucinous material was found to be depleted. Therefore, we needed to differentiate between papillary renal cell carcinoma and MTSCC. Finally, on the basis of the immunohistochemical staining results-vimentin (+), CK34βE12 (-), and CD10 (-)-MTSCC was confirmed.

We report a case of 40 years old gentleman with mucinous tubular and spindle cell renal carcinoma (MTSCRC) with associated renal pelvic calculus, a rare clinical entity of the kidney. Initial presentation was that of right side flank pain. Radiological evaluation revealed a right renal mass along with a pelvic calculus. After subsequent evaluation he underwent right radical nephrectomy. The his...
متن کاملOsseous Metaplasia in Mucinous Tubular and Spindle Cell Carcinoma of the Kidney: A Case of Massive, Bilateral Tumors
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common kidney malignancy, with many histologic subtypes. One of the rare forms of RCC is mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma (MTSCC), which is newly described with limited information on clinical picture and outcome. Heterotopic bone formation (osseous metaplasia) is a rare finding within any renal mass. Here we report a case of a massive, bilatera...
متن کاملMucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma of the kidney: imaging features
This article describes the features on sonography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma of the kidney. Six pathologically proven cases of mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma of the kidney were identified (5 females, 1 male); all patients underwent preoperative imaging. The mean age of the patients was 58.5 years. Th...
متن کاملThe imaging and pathological features of a mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma of the kidney: a case report
A mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma (MTSCC) is a rare and recently described kidney neoplasm with distal nephron differentiation. It can affect patients of all ages and is more prevalent among women. In this case report, we present a 50-year-old woman who had a renal mass, which was accidently discovered during an investigation for chronic anemia. The final diagnosis of MTSCC was made...

The histopathology report revealed a classic type of MT&SCC. Photographs of histopathological samples are shown. Nephrectomy was applied as sole treatment. A follow-up of six years...
